Former jockey Larry Snyder will be inducted into the Arkansas Walk of Fame on April 9 in Hot Springs.
Snyder, who retired in 1994 after winning 6,388 races, now serves as a steward at Oaklawn Park, which is located just a few miles from the Walk of Fame at the Hot Springs Visitors Center on Central Avenue.
"I am deeply honored to become a member of the Arkansas Walk of Fame," Snyder said. "Speaking for myself and my family this will be a proud moment for us. We are very appreciative."
Snyder, inducted into the state’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1988, began riding at Oaklawn in 1960’s before relocating with his wife, Jeanette, a few years later.
"It wasn’t long until Jeannette and I knew Hot Springs was where we wanted to make our home. It was an easy choice—an excellent."
