Dear Sentinel Record, Why the difference in your coverage for two candidates vying for the US Senate seat? Why the difference in the Sentinel-Record treatment of our next US Senator, Dr. Fay Boozman and that for Democratic contender Nate Coulter? Yesterday's paper had a front page color photo of Little Rock attorney Nate Coulter with extensive related article exclusive to the Sentinel-Record apparently done in the privacy of the paper's office. Yet last week the first public event was held in the new convention auditorium but had no coverage in the paper! It was a combination educational presentation and introduction of the Republican US Senatorial candidate Dr. Fay Boozman (current state senator, since 1994), from Rogers, to the Hot Springs public. It was a super event and certainly newsworthy if for no other reason than that it was the first public event in the new convention facility. That's not a partisan issue. But it was also newsworthy as a public gathering of politically involved citizens meeting for a terrific presentation titled "America's Godly Heritage" by a Constitutional law/history expert speaker David Barton from Texas. The piece about Mr. Coulter seems more an editorial/feature/ad-vertisement. It's your prerogative to run such, and I appreciate the information about the candidate. But I am disappointed and puzzled by your seemingly unevenhanded treatment of the two candidates. The photo/articles of the Democratic candidate could be construed an endorsement. The absence of any mention of the Republican candidate whose event inaugurated our new pride and joy Convention Auditorium, seems a deliberate omission depriving Hot Springs area citizens of information. I could be misinterpreting and gladly welcome your correction but wonder where do you stand? Fred Towse ttow@hsnp.com
